A Kansas man died in June after falling from a roof at Richmond's Purina Mills manufacturing plant.

A 23-year-old Kansas man died Tuesday after he fell while working on a roof at Richmond's Purina Mills manufacturing plant.

Jacob Bugg of Hutchinson, Kansas, was working with a contracted roofing crew about 1 p.m. when he fell about 40 feet, said Wayne County Coroner Ron Stevens. Bugg was working on a lower section of the roof than the rest of the crew, Stevens said, when a coworker noticed he was missing.

Stevens said how Bugg fell or what caused the fall is not known because the fall was not witnessed. He said alcohol or drugs are not suspected as a contributing factor.

An autopsy was to be performed Wednesday on Bugg by the Montgomery County Coroner's Office in Dayton, Ohio, Stevens said, noting Bugg sustained a lot of blunt force trauma.

Bugg did donate tissues and part of his eyes.

"His family graciously agreed for him to be a donor," Stevens said.

Richmond Fire Department EMS was dispatched at 1:07 p.m. to the fall and transported Bugg from the scene.
