Two people shot and killed each other Wednesday night in an incident on Richmond's northwest side.

Richmond police are joined by the Wayne County Sheriff's Department and Indiana State Police to investigate a shooting Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2016, on Industries Road.

At about 9:15 p.m., officers were called to a property in the 1800 block of Industries Road on a report of shots fired.

When they arrived at the scene, just west of the former Coca-Cola plant, officers found two victims with gunshots wounds on the ground outside of a building.

One of the victims, Charles Atkinson of Neosho, Mo., was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a press release issued Thursday morning by Richmond Police Department Capt. Kevin Wampler, head of the department's detectives division.

The other victim, Virgus Browning Jr. of Richmond, was taken to Reid Health with multiple gunshot wounds. He later died at the hospital, Wampler said.

Investigators processed the crime scene for evidence and interviewed witnesses overnight.

The conclusion that they were able to draw from the evidence was that the two victims actually had shot each other.

"While the investigation continues as to the details of the exchange, no further suspects are being sought in connection to this crime," Wampler said in the press release.

The shooting took place outside of a building on the property but within a fenced area. Two vehicles remained at the scene Wednesday night, a sedan and a truck.

One of the witnesses at the scene, Lori A. Clark, 40, of West Alexandria, Ohio, was arrested for possession of methamphetamine (a Level 6 felony) and taken to the Wayne County Jail where she has a bond of $7,500 with 10 percent cash.

Wampler said Clark had arrived at the scene with one of the victims but declined at this time to say which one.

In addition to Richmond police, the Indiana State Police, the Wayne County Sheriff's Department, the Centerville Police Department and the Richmond Fire Department responded to the scene.
